What a Favorite Is Back to top
A favorite is a calendar you have added to your own sidebar. Three things define the model:
- Favorites are personal. Your sidebar is yours. Adding or removing a calendar there never changes what anyone else sees.
- Favorites are per surface. Your hub list and each space calendar page keep independent sets. The Design space can show two calendars while your hub shows ten.
- Favorites are not permissions. You can only favorite calendars that are already shared with you, and favoriting grants nothing. If a share is revoked, the calendar disappears from every sidebar it was favorited on.
Global vs Per-Space Back to top
| Calendar Hub (global) | Space calendar page | |
|---|---|---|
| Favorites set | Your global list — everything you follow | Its own list per space — starts empty, curated for that space's audience |
| Starts with | Calendars you created or added | Nothing — emptiness is the invitation to curate |
| Display preferences | Your saved choices | Follows your global choices until you change them in the space |
| Access rules | Identical — a calendar shared with you can be added on any surface; permissions never vary by surface | |
The page macro does not use favorites at all — the page author picks
explicit calendars in the macro configuration, and each viewer's access is checked at render time.
Adding Calendars to Your Sidebar Back to top
Click Add Calendars at the top of the sidebar. Two options:
- Create Calendar — build a new calendar from scratch. It is favorited for you automatically. See Managing Calendars.
- Add existing — add a calendar that already exists and is shared with you.
The Add existing dialog
- The dialog lists every calendar you have access to that is not already in this surface's sidebar (calendars you already added are filtered out to keep the list clean).
- Use the search box to filter by name.
- Click a calendar to add it. It appears in your sidebar immediately, with whatever access level you were granted.
Calendars can also arrive via a calendar link: they appear in the sidebar's Shared Calendars row with an Add to favorites action. See Sharing a Link to a Calendar.
Removing — and What It Doesn't Do Back to top
Open a calendar's actions menu (pencil icon) and choose Remove from favorite.
- The calendar leaves this surface's sidebar only. If it's favorited on your hub and in a space, removing it from the space keeps it on the hub.
- Nothing is deleted and nobody else is affected — you can add it back any time via Add existing.
- This is different from Delete (Admin only), which permanently removes the calendar and its custom events for everyone.
Losing access is different from removing. If an Admin removes you (or your group)
from a calendar's permissions, the calendar disappears from all your sidebars and from the
Add existing list. There is no notification — admins should tell people directly.
