The admin configuration page controls who can access the Resource Allocation plugin and what they can do. By default, only Jira site administrators have access. All other users must be explicitly granted access.

Important: Jira site administrators always have full access to the plugin. Other users have no access by default — you must explicitly add them to grant access.

Accessing the Configuration Back to top

The permissions configuration page is accessible only to Jira site administrators. To access it:

Navigate to Jira Settings (gear icon in the top-right of Jira).
Click "Apps" in the left sidebar under "Atlassian Marketplace".
Select "Resource Allocation Planning" from the list of installed apps.

Note: Only Jira site administrators can see and modify this configuration page. App Administrators defined here do not have access to this page — they can only manage settings (capacity, categories) within the app itself.

App Administrators

Users and groups with full access to the plugin. App Administrators can:

Create, edit, and delete allocations/bookings
Manage teams (create, edit, delete)
Manage categories and settings (capacity, working days, default color)

App Users

Users and groups that can create, edit, and delete teams and bookings, but cannot change settings (capacity, categories, working days).

Read-Only Viewers

Users and groups that can view teams and allocations but cannot create, edit, or delete anything.

Navigate to Jira Settings → Apps → Resource Allocation Planning.
Add users or groups to the appropriate role section (App Administrators, App Users, or Read-Only Viewers).
Search by name to find individual users, or search for group names to add entire Jira groups at once.
Click "Save Configuration" to apply the changes.

Users & Groups

You can add both individual users and Jira groups to any role. When a group is added, all members of that group inherit the role's permissions. This makes it easy to manage access for entire departments or teams.
