Timesheets show the hours people have logged, grouped the way you need. Pick a view from the left sidebar.

Which view do I use?

  • User Timesheets — hours per person: Summary, By Project, By Issue, By Epic, Detailed.
  • Project Timesheets — hours per project: Summary, By User.
  • Epic Timesheets — hours per epic: Summary, By User, By Issue.
  • Custom Timesheets — your own grouping by Jira fields.
  • Progress — Timesheet Progress: logged hours against required hours.
  • Approvals — Pending Approvals and Approval History. See Timesheets Approval.

Toolbar & Filters Back to top

Every view has the same toolbar.

  • Bookmarks — save the current view as a bookmark to reopen it later. Bookmarks are personal.

  • Day / Week / Month — Day shows one column per day; Week and Month add up the totals.
  • Team / Users or Jira filter — choose whose hours to show: picked people and teams, or the issues in a saved Jira filter.
  • Filter — narrow down by project and, if used, by category.
  • Refresh — reload the latest data.
  • Explanation — explains how to read the current view.
  • Export Excel — downloads what you see as an Excel file.
  • Fullscreen — gives the table the whole screen.
  • Expand All / Collapse All — open or close every level in grouped views.

User & Project Timesheets Back to top

User Timesheets Summary with logged hours per person

User Timesheets show hours from each person’s side:

  • Summary — one row per person with their total for each column.
  • By Project — each person’s hours split by project.
  • By Issue — each person’s hours split by issue.
  • By Epic — each person’s hours split by epic, then issue.
User Timesheets By Epic: a person expanded to epics and the issues under each

Project Timesheets show the same hours from the project side:

  • Summary — one row per project.
  • By User — each project split by the people who logged time on it.

Epic Timesheets Back to top

Epic Timesheets show how much time went into each epic. Hours on an epic’s issues (and their sub-tasks) count towards the epic; other work is under Without Epic.

  • Summary — one row per epic.
  • By User — who logged the hours on each epic.
  • By Issue — which issues the hours went into.

Custom Timesheets Back to top

Build your own grouping. Above the grid, pick up to 5 levels from Jira fields, such as Worklog Author → Project → Epic. Items with no value for a field are grouped under “(No value)”.

Detailed Timesheet Back to top

The Detailed view lists every worklog as its own row — useful for checking individual entries.

  • Columns — choose what to show, such as Date, User, Project, Issue, Hours and Description.
  • Group by — optionally group rows by a field, with a subtotal per group.
  • Sort — click a column header to sort.
  • Include leave — show approved leave next to worklogs.
  • Category — if you can edit the worklog, change its category right in the table.

Timesheet Progress Back to top

Timesheet Progress compares each person’s Logged Hours with their Required Hours — their capacity minus holidays and approved leave. Use it to check that timesheets are complete before a period closes.

Choose how the numbers are shown:

  • Totals only — just the period totals.
  • Per day — logged and required hours for each day.
  • Heatmap — coloured cells for scanning many people at once.
  • Stacked — logged above required in each cell.

Capacity & Cell Colours Back to top

Required hours are worked out for each person and day:

Cells on person rows are coloured by logged hours compared with required hours:

Colour Meaning
Light blue Under 50% logged
Yellow-green 50–80% logged
Green On track (80–100%)
Yellow Slightly over (100–120%)
Red Well over, or work on a day off
Blue Leave day
Orange Public holiday

Clicking a Cell Back to top

Click any cell to see the worklogs behind the number: issue, hours, author and description. On a leave day, the dialog also shows the leave details.

Who Sees Whose Timesheets Back to top

Regular users see only their own hours; team managers, approvers and viewers see the people assigned to them; admins see everyone. Being on the same team does not let you see a colleague’s timesheet. Details are in Permissions.
